About Us

 

My name is Chef Tameka and I welcome you to my business with grace. Suga Mama’s Custom Creations was founded in the early 2000's. I first started out by selling dinner plates to my family, friends, and community. My passion for cooking began at a young age. I watched my mother, aunts and god-mother cook meals for church and family functions almost weekly. So, my interest led my mother to enroll me into cooking classes at our neighborhood recreational center. I learned a variety of recipes and skills. Fast forward, in 2018 I fulfilled my dream and I graduated from Culinary Arts school after receiving degrees in other professional fields as well.

My passion for cooking is an inherited trait from my ancestors. Our main focus here, is to put a smile on your face through your stomach. Each dish is made with love, soul, passion and the specific client in mind.

     We hired Suga Mama’s Creations for a birthday dinner. Our email was answered promptly & professionally with the quotes we requested. She was flexible and made accommodations for us, as needed. Unfortunately, the building we rented was not wired to handle all of her cooking equipment. That caused dinner to be delayed. Suga Mama and her staff remained calm and pleasant throughout the stressful ordeal. Dinner was late but everyone enjoyed it. I would recommend and use her services again.

     I had been planning my sons college graduation party since his first day of kindergarten….He was set to graduate May of 2021. Unfortunately COVID wreaked havoc on everything and everyone and my plans fell into her grasps. I knew I had to reconfigure it all. A lot of things were thwarted last minute and I needed to make changes almost immediately. 

    Last second I decided to do a seafood boil that would accommodate up to 50 people. Reached out to Suga Mama less than 72 hours prior to my event. She had other bookings but made time for me. Tameka organized seafood orders and pick up, came to venue prepared with seasoning, pans /pots and cooking utensils. Suga Mama was loaded and ready to serve. In a matter of what seemed like moments she had prepared 150lbs of crab legs, 80lbs of shrimp, what looked like endless mussels and let’s not forget about the corn, potatoes and smoked sausage. She didn’t require me to do anything. The food was amazing not over powering with salt. All shrimp was tender and if you’ve ever had a seafood boil it can be a task to have the shrimp remain tender. The garlic butter sauce she created was absolutely amazing. I have memories of our guest licking the shells even after they were empty. Suga Mama has remained my trusted go to when planning both big and small scale events. I cannot thank or praise her enough❤️
